With its friendly atmosphere and open fire, Ye Olde Red Lion is as attractive on the inside as it is on the outside and now, thanks to a major investment, it also offers first class en-suite accommodation.
A lease dating back to 1782 still survives, so the building is at least 200 years old and possibly more, but it hasn't always been a pub. At first, the building was occupied by a blacksmith's and after the late 1800s combined blacksmithing with the licensed trade.
It was bought by Arkell's in 1992. The pub now having its two distinct sections knocked through to make the present day establishment.
The car park, by the way, used to be the local duck pond!
The only ducks at Ye Olde Red Lion now will likely to be the ones on the menu.
